How to run Blupi from Windows
-----------------------------

If your Blupi Explorer was installed with the standard path in the
install program, all that is needed is to create a Blupi Explorer program
in one of the groups of the Program Manager. BLUPI-S.ICO has an icon which
can be used. Please refer to your Windows manual to create a program.
If the path was changed, the BLUPI-E.PIF file in the directory in which
you installed Blupi Explorer must be corrected using PifEdit.

Memory problems
---------------

If your Blupi Explorer does not run, but displays

"Not enough conventional memory to run this program..."

some memory must be freed by removing resident applications and drivers,
and/or by using a high memory utility such as EMM386 or QEMM386 by
Quarterdeck. With MSDOS 6, the "MEMMAKER" command can also be used.
Refer to your MSDOS manual for this command.

The "MEM" command will display info relative to the occupation of
your memory.

You need at least 516000 largest executable program size

Using a sound card
------------------

BLUPI EXPLORER comes with a great musical background and sound effects.
Blupi even speaks. This means you need a SoundBlaster or compatible
sound card. As sound cards are rather touchy, here are some answers
to problems you may have :

Query : I'm not getting any sound effects or music.
Remedies : - Are you sure you've got a sound card ?
	   - Make sure your speakers are connected, and the volume
	     turned up.
	 - Check the setup.
Use SETUP in the directory where you installed BLUPI EXPLORER.
Please refer to your sound card manual.
You may need to restart your computer if you change the
	     settings.

Query : I've got music, but no sound effects or voice.
Remedies : - Your sound card may not be SoundBlaster compatible. Sorry,
	     no sound effects !
	   - If your card is SoundBlaster compatible, then check the
	     settings as explained above.
	   - Some sound cards need auxiliary programs that are installed
in the CONFIG.SYS and/or AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Check your sound
	     card manual for details.

Query : I've got the sound effects, but no music.
Remedies : - Some sound cards need auxiliary programs that are installed
in the CONFIG.SYS and/or AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Check your sound
	     card manual for details.

Query : I'm sure I've set BLUPI EXPLORER up correctly, but I still
don't have music or sound effects.
Remedy : - In some configurations, sound cards do not work properly if
you run your program from Windows(TM). Quit Windows(TM)
completely and run BLUPI EXPLORER directly at the DOS prompt.
Change directories : CD C:\BLUPI-M and type BLUPI.

Query : BLUPI suddenly returns to Windows(TM) stating an error.
Remedy : - Refer to previous remedy.

Query : Befor each sound there I hear a loud clicking noise.
Remedy : Start the game with the "blupi-e -s" command instead of
	   "blupi-e".

Other hazards
-------------

Query : When I try to run SETUP, I get the Windows setup
	   or another setup program.
Remedies : - You are not in the correct directory.
If you are using the Windows File Manager, open the
	     Blupi-M directory before clicking setup.exe
If you are in DOS, type CD C:\BLUPI-M (or the
path you chose when you installed BLUPI EXPLORER)
	   - Have you installed BLUPI EXPLORER on your disk ?

Query : My BLUPI EXPLORER displays an error message similar to
"Fatal error: TE020.COL: No such file or directory"
Remedy : - One of the auxiliary files (for instance TE020.COL)
	     has been accidentally deleted.
You must install BLUPI EXPLORER again.

Query : My BLUPI EXPLORER is a limited demo version.
Remedy : - Install BLUPI EXPLORER from the original BLUPI EXPLORER
	     diskette
