Digger first appeared in 1983 from Windmill Software, and it quickly became one of those games people still talk about decades later. The original needed a genuine CGA card, which meant it no longer ran on modern PCs. That’s why Andrew Jenner rebuilt it in 1998: this version runs on any PC with CGA or better, keeps the feel of the original and adds a few new features of its own.
You steer a small digging machine through the red underground, carving out tunnels as you go. The dirt is packed with shiny green emeralds to collect, along with money bags marked with a dollar sign. Meanwhile, wide-eyed monsters come chasing you through your own tunnels, so you’ll need to keep moving. A handy tip that plenty of players only found out years later: press F1 to fire at the monsters. The levels get tougher as you go, and reaching level 5 or beyond is a real achievement.

This one was my favorite game through the early 90s. My supervisor had caught me on the computer playing Digger instead of working on my graduate thesis. I remember i was able to climb up 7-8 levels, it was getting horribly fast for those ...tards to catch me afterwards.
Played this in the 80s on a monochrome monitor... didn't find out about the ability to shoot until years later lol. was surprised to see it in color years after that. a few decades later, the windows compatible version made it possible to edit your own levels and control the speed... I use my Razer keyboard macros to do this with a shortcut, making it possible to play endlessly and win every time with practice. It's my zen time.

it is wunnerful but the Chromebook I play it on has no f1 key so I can't shoot
I played this game back in the 80's I only recently learned that pressing F1 will fire at the bags guys.

great graphics for 1988
It is a very well done game for the time, but too difficult. I never get past level 5. Original comment: Es un juego muy bien hecho para la época, pero demasiado difícil. Nunca paso del nivel 5.
